I didn't set out to build a brand. I set out to build a life that felt like home.

About Stacey Owen + Hey Silly Rebel

I’m a writer, speaker, certified business and money mindset coach, and multi-passionate creative entrepreneur. I’ve been building businesses for well over a decade, starting as a photographer, then founding and recently selling my all-women international marketing agency, Pepper, and co-founding Standard Office Space, a non-profit coworking and mentorship society in Kamloops, BC.

Hey, I'm Stace!

It grew me. Cheesy, I know, but true.

And honestly? If you want the deepest, fastest way to grow as a human being…become an entrepreneur, haha! Joking, no joking. For real.

Every business I’ve built has peeled back another layer — teaching me about money, leadership, boundaries, visibility, and who I actually am when things get uncomfortable. And boy, it’s been a journey!

Hey Silly Rebel exists because I’ve lived the version of success that looks good from the outside, and yet still at times felt quietly (or not so quietly) wrong on the inside.

Each business didn’t just grow my income.

I didn’t come into entrepreneurship feeling powerful or certain. Or even with a decent sense of personal style. Le sigh.

At one point in my life, I was in a 13.5-year abusive relationship. For five of those years, I lived in a garage with no running water. I learned how to survive by shrinking, accommodating, and disconnecting from my own needs. That’s painful to admit even now.

But that experience shaped how I moved through the world — especially around money, safety, and self-trust.

Where I started

When I eventually left, I didn’t magically arrive as a confident woman with a clear identity. I had to rebuild myself slowly, and with lots of mistakes along the way.

Yes, therapy helped, and a ton of self-development work! But very honestly, the most growth came through my business and being an entrepreneur.

This entire process didn’t just take months, my friend. It’s taken over a decade, and in fact, I’m still learning and grateful for every minute of it!

The version of success I was taught

Like many women, I learned early how to be capable, responsible, and agreeable.

I learned how to work hard, be useful, and make things happen — often at the expense of my own wellbeing. I learned to soften my authority so I wouldn’t be “too much.” To stay likable. To stay safe.

I built businesses by following the rules, listening to experts, and doing what I was told would work.

And for a while, it did.

Until it didn't.

Each business I built took me deeper. Like, ho-laaayyyy shit, kind of deeper.

My photography business taught me confidence, business basics, genuine connection in my work, visibility, and creative ownership.

My all-women marketing agency taught me leadership, money responsibility, boundaries, and what it really means to hold power without apology — and what happens when you don’t. Selling that business was one of the most clarifying and emotional experiences of my life.

Co-founding Standard Office Space showed me the power of community, mentorship, and building structures and spaces that actually support people — not just productivity.
Every chapter stretched me, asked me to unlearn something, and brought me closer to myself. Sometimes painfully, sometimes joyfully, but always elevating and moving me toward the life I am proud to be living now.

How business became the ultimate classroom

Over time, the pressure to perform — online, in business, and in life — started to take a toll.

I was successful, but disconnected. Visible, but tired. Capable, but absolutely second-guessing myself.

What finally broke the spell was this slow, honest and painful realization that I had outsourced my intuition.

About money. About marketing and business. About how I wanted to live.
And that’s when I stopped asking, “What should I do?”

And started asking, “What actually works for me?”

The moment things shifted

I believe a woman’s relationship with money shapes her sense of safety, power, and freedom.

I believe business strategy only works when it respects your nervous system, values, and season of life.

I believe growth doesn’t require self-abandonment.
I believe that even if not everyone is going to like it, in the end what is best for you is actually what is best for everyone.

And I believe there are a hundred million ways to build a business and live a life.

What I believe now

Wny not yours?

How Hey Silly Rebel came to be

Hey Silly Rebel isn’t a brand in the traditional sense. It’s a body of work and an invitation. And she’s kinda cute if I do say so myself!

It’s for ambitious women who are done abandoning themselves in the name of success. We want both — to be ourselves and successful.

It’s for women who want to grow, make money, and build meaningful businesses without burning out, performing online, or forcing themselves into strategies that don’t fit.

This work blends:

  • Business strategy

  • Money mindset coaching

  • Identity and self-trust (and maybe a little ‘woo’)

  • A deep respect for real life

You won’t find shame-based motivation or pretending here. This is a safe place to be a real human being.

I’m strategic, but human.

Direct, but warm.

Playful, but grounded.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all formulas, and I don’t believe you need to fix yourself to be successful.

How I work

  • Clear thinking

  • Honest conversations

  • Thoughtful experimentation

  • Building momentum that actually sticks

I do believe in:

We’re all a bunch of mad scientists over here…testing, adjusting, learning, and evolving as we go, mmk?!

Tap In

If you’re wondering if this work is for you

If you’ve ever thought:

  • “I should be more confident by now.”

  • “Why does success still feel hard?”

  • “There has to be another way.”

You’re not broken or behind. I promise. You’re becoming and I’m excited for you!

And if I can rebuild my relationship with money, power, and self-trust from where I started, then so can you.
